Sulfuric acid residue is a kind of waste residue produced in the process of sulfuric acid production. It mainly contains sulfates and other impurities and is highly acidic and corrosive. The treatment of sulfuric acid residue requires a specialized process flow.

Process flow

Phase One: Solid-liquid separation

The waste liquid containing sulfuric acid residue is subjected to solid-liquid separation through methods such as sedimentation, centrifugation or filtration to separate the solid sulfuric acid residue with a relatively high solid content.

Phase Two: Water washing

Solid sulfuric acid residue is subjected to water washing treatment to remove soluble sulfates and other water-soluble impurities within it. The purpose of water washing is to reduce the content of acidic and dissolved substances in the slag and alleviate its corrosiveness to the environment.

Phase Three: Drying

The washed sulfuric acid residue is dried to reduce its moisture content, enhance its stability and storability. Common drying methods include natural air-drying, air-drying or using drying equipment, etc.

Phase Four: Crushing

The dried sulfuric acid residue is crushed to make its particle size smaller and more uniform, which is convenient for subsequent processing or utilization. The methods of crushing can include mechanical crushing, grinding or crushing, etc.

The sulfuric acid residue after the above treatment can be comprehensively utilized or disposed of. Common utilization methods include being used as a cement admixture, building material, soil conditioner, etc. If there is no appropriate utilization method, sulfuric acid residue also needs to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with relevant regulations to avoid negative impacts on the environment.

Main uses

Cement admixture: Sulfuric acid slag can be used as an admixture in cement production to control the physical and chemical properties of concrete, improving its workability and durability.
Building materials: Sulfuric acid slag can be used to produce building materials such as blocks, bricks and building panels, which are used in construction or repair projects.
Soil conditioner: The components in sulfuric acid residue can improve soil structure, regulate soil pH value, increase soil fertility and retain moisture. Therefore, it can be used as a soil conditioner to enhance soil quality.
Sulfate production: The sulfate components in sulfuric acid slag can be used to produce sulfate compounds, such as ferric sulfate and copper sulfate, for industrial production and the preparation of chemical preparations.
Calcium fertilizer production: The calcium component in sulfuric acid residue can be used to produce calcium fertilizer, which is applied in the agricultural field to provide the calcium element needed by plants.

In addition, sulfuric acid residue can also be used in environmental governance and waste treatment, etc., but its specific uses will be restricted by the nature, composition of the sulfuric acid residue and relevant regulations. In practical applications, it is necessary to assess and select the appropriate use based on the specific circumstances of the sulfuric acid residue, while ensuring compliance with relevant environmental and safety requirements.
